  1. Butthole Surfers- Locust Abortion Technician. The entire album of course, and it’s still my favorite of all time. I had a small party this one time when my parents were out of town. Of course there was drugs and alcohol. I put this record on, and one of my female friends started to cry, asking “Why are they doing this?” HAHAHA! I can play this album to this day and people still get pissed off, scared, weirded out, whatever. It’s timeless.

Flipper – Gone Fishin’. A lot of people don’t like this album of theirs because it’s such a contrast to what they were famous for, drunken live shows that were a chaotic mess. Some say it was too “produced”.But I think it was their best effort in the studio. Their artsy fartsy-ness really shines. And for stoner music it’s hard to beat.

Agent Orange – Living in Darkness. SUPERB ALBUM through and through!

Now, of course it’s obvious to mention Dead Kennedy’s, Black Flag, and Suicidal Tendencies (first album only of course). All of these bands were terrific. Favorite of DK was Plastic Surgery Disasters. Another good stoner album. Creepy and it had a theme. But if you wanted to listen to punk rock music that even punk rockers hated, there was The Crucifucks. The lead singer, Doc Dart ( I almost used his name and likeness for my SG avatar and user name) was clinically diagnosed with schizophrenia. That diagnosis did not come many years after the fact. That was current DURING his tenure as the front man for The Crucifucks. Now, the thing about it, and why I say punk music that punk rockers hate, is because when you throw on their first self titled LP, you hear a riff that sounds pretty tough. Any normal punker would be like “fuck yeah this is gonna be bad ass”! But then Doc opens his mouth…. personally, I LOVE IT! And he has some of the most disturbing and brutal lyrics, with songs like “Cops For Fertilizer”, where he suggests that the real solution to curbing crimes inspired by teenage angst, is to let them go cop-killing after school to give them something to do. But I’ll let you be the judge….. I present the first song, “Democracy Spawns Bad Taste” from their first album.

  2. Sorry for the additional comment, but I must be fair and share my favorites from….. before the age of 13….

Of course, I thought this shit was hard as nails back then…

And this was THE SHIT because it was kinda like Return of the Jedi, which had just been recently released

  3. Truly I would choose “another day” from that album, but I can’t find the actual album recording. This is off the same album and still pretty great.

  4. The soundtrack to my teens went a little like this: For not being much of an angry teenager, I sure listened to some angry music.
    EDIT:
I guess Nirvana, Butthole Surfers, Ween and Frank Zappa deserve honorable mentions as well.

  5. spent a fuckload of time growing up listening to 60’s and 70’s stuff.

too much good shit to single out one band or album…black sabbath, deep purple, led zeppelin, pink floyd etc… so i’ll post up some budgie.

all time favourite band NOW would have to be monster magnet.

you can’t really go past this little ditty.

  6. Way too many to mention… Beethoven, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Joan Armatrading, Phoebe Snow, Mendelssohn, Guns N Roses (*heavy shame*), Grace Jones, Madness, Ian Dury and The Blockheads, Metallica, Alice In Chains, Faith No More, Mr Bungle, Pantera, Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Van Halen… and the list goes on…

But this. This was life changing. =D

  7. Well, I have been collecting records and shit for many years.  The first one that pops to mind (being an early and lasting favourite) is Elton John’s awesome Madman Across The Water from ’71.  I didn’t get it brand new but pretty close.  Love that record!

  8. Oh I’d heard of them back then… and Henry Rollins… but I didn’t buy any of their stuff – at least not until after school. I’ve only included anything during high school. =D

I first discovered Henry Rollins in ’93 perhaps??? All I know is I was tripping, and just as it hit, the video for Liar came on. My friend lost her shit laughing so hard, and I thought he was just magnificent. HAHA!!
  9. I asked Gibby if it is a Locust who performs abortions, or a person that performs abortions on locusts, his reply was, “It’s like a technician man”
