OC – Impulse Trip to Chattanooga

At lunch on Friday we was watching the rain coming to NOLA.  Fuck that says I.  We packed up the dogs and the progeny and went to Chattanooga.

Walking the dogs in back of this Texas Chainsaw Massacre gas station in Mizzippi:

Cathedral Caverns in north Alabama:

Aunt Bea’s BBQ by Crow Creek in north Alabama:

A serious flea bag “honeymoon chalet” for our Saturday night digs:

Donnie Darko fan?

Cheesy ass music and excellent pimento cheese hot dogs on the levee while the kids went “sledding” on cardboard down the grassy banks with about 100 other pint-sized menaces.

Sunday morning visitor.

Chattanooga has an awesome children’s museum.  Way better than NOLA’s!

Huge model train museum at the Chattanooga Choo Choo hotel.

Our waiter, Jerry, on stage singing and playing Folsom Prison Blues for us.  He was cool.

They’re cure when they’re dreaming!

Our cool room for Sunday night- an actual sleeper car in the parked train at the hotel.  The kids and the wife thought this was badass.  I thought it was cool that they thought it was baddass.

Monday spent driving through the fucking pouring rain that had come north from NOLA.  Tuesday – back to reality!
