Made it to the island at around 7 am. Waited for the goddamn box office to open at 8. Good call on getting there early because the line got massive!

Walking on the bridge to get to the bridge to get to the circuit was pretty neat. They had banners with the driver illustrated on them on either side. They were in order of the current constructor championship points order.
This was our view!
Before practice started, There was a Ferrari Challenge race going on. A buncha 458’s and 430 scuderia’s racing around. Holy fuck they sounded amazing.
Then we walked around the circuit for a bit and explored and shopped. I got my Scuderia Ferrari livery on! It was a good day to be a Tifosi. Ferrari fans outnumbered every other group in the whole goddamn place! Endless sea of red! I’v been smiling like this all day!
Then, an all too familiar sound started emanating from a distance, and got louder and louder.
We were walking by near one of the General Admission areas, and the sound started getting louder. Sure enough, IT WAS A F1 CAR!
Then I saw Alonso!
Then we headed back to our seats, and i saw Massa!
Alonso with a faster shutter speed.
And of course, the 7 time F1 World Champion, Michael Schumacher!
This was the only way i can see the progress of anything. The jumbo tron was big. But not big enough.
Then practice 1 ended. We had about an hour to kill, so we walked around to the other side of the track. We got near the start/finish straight. unfortunately it was all blocked off. Luckily the not all the way. I snapped this AWESOME photo of the Ferrari pit area from under one of the main Grandstand.
By the time we got back to our grandstand, practice 2 started, so we caught a bit of it from another General admission area. This area is a long straight before the hair pin, so they are just flying past. The area i took these next shots, is where the driver snaps into 7th gear. Holy fucking shit, the sounds!
“Excuse me inferior ‘Virgin Mobile’. GTFO of the way.”
So my first every F1 experience is going great! Every expectation is met, and then some. The one thing that caught me off guard is the sound. Its unbelievable. Not the loudness. I expected it to be loud as fuck, and got just that. What im talking about how every engine brand sounds completely different from each other. You can tell whats racing a mercedes the, or a ferrari engine. AND, the downshifting. OMFG the downshifting is orgasm inducing. What you hear on TV is watered down. Hearing it live, you simultaneously hear the sound of the engine revving back up on a lower gear, the small but loud explosion of the exhaust, and the air intake sucking up big bursts of air. And you hear that 4 or 5 times, depending on what gear the driver was on, and really fucking quick.
If i take any more good photos, I’ll post ’em!
