In memory of DRZ.

While I’ve dropped in a few times in the last couple of years, I haven’t posted anything in quite some time. Today, however, I bring news of a former member.

For any of you who remember DRZ, he has passed away. Much like you hear in crime fiction, his post mortem was inconclusive, and there’s still a wait for toxicology results. What is known, however, is that there is a high probability that this is – er – lifestyle related, his body had enough, and he slipped away in his sleep.

A funeral service is planned for Wednesday 6th September, at 2pm. Cambourne crematorium, in Cornwall. Given that I’m not from the UK, I have no idea if that makes sense. There will be no wake.

Now, I’m not going to sugarcoat who the wonderful DRZ was. He was wonderful with his friends, a gentleman to me, and an absolute dick to his next door neighbour. I’m sure she’s now enjoying uninterrupted interwebs, silence – now that the machine attached to the wall has stopped knocking at random intervals, and is probably making plans to lower the height of the fence between the two properties. Yes, DRZ made that woman his hobby.

He’s also known for being a wonderful and funny friend, to both real life and online friends, a good samaritan type (anyone remember Sasha?), and a bit of a cycling fanatic. But he was also clouded by anxiety, which was possibly the beginning of his undoing. All I know is that I loved him, and his absence will be felt. The sky has, once again, become a little bluer.

As for Stitch, the insane kitteh of DRZ, he has found a new home with a neighbour. So there is, after all, a happy ending.

  1. Sad to hear about a passing of anyone so young. As a newcomer I don’t think I quite knew him that well, but anyone who fucks with their neighbor as much as he did is OK in my book. Let’s hope his new neighbors will be more to his liking!

  3. Truly sad. I never knew him personally but his username popped up on more the one forum I was lurking on.
Sad that this international obscure forum ‘family’ has lost a great person.
