Game Reset: The Soundtrack

SG, looking for some help once more. I’m looking for bands or artists to donate original tracks to the Game Reset movie. So! If you have a band or make music, please get in contact with me. Can’t pay for any tracks but you’ll be included in the credits and I will send you some stuff from the shoot. Thanks!

  1. i sent you a private email, but i’m not sure if the sg mail is working, so here it is again.

What kind of music are you looking for?  I’ve been in just about every type of band and record stuff on the side.

    What’s your deadline?
How can I send you some MP3s?
You can reach me at easytorecall at gmail

  2. Here’s what I like: I like the rhythmic diversity and things beyond 4/4. What I’m missing is melodic content. Check out Fela Kuti if you haven’t already (seeing as you like afro beat, I’m sure you have! I’m thinking specifically of “water get no enemy” or “lady”) Point being, he uses cool melodic elements to tie all of the intense rhythmic stuff together. This could be a super simple horn line using kontakt’s samples or, better yet, find a book on orchestration and write out some horn lines for people to play. If you’re feeling super adventurous, find someone that writes lyrics and throw all of this together! SO, in conclusion, you’ve got a solid foundation with which to build upon, and the stuff is good! With some melody/lyrics (mainly melody), I think you could have something GREAT.

  3. Haha, how could I listen to Afro Beat without listening to the Black President? He is a huge influence, whether it is audible or not. I was actually in this improv group briefly and I knew it was going to get tense when the other guitarist said after our first rehearsal (presumably in response to the direction I and my bassist friend were steering the group towards) “we don’t want to sound like Fela Kuti” with a kind of sneer in his voice, to which I replied, “we would be lucky to sound like Fela Kuti.” Thanks for the advice, I am looking for a vocalist, and I would really love to have a horn section (or at least a sax or bass clarinet). I think my problem with writing strong melodies stems from my experience with looping which tends to produce more interlocking stuff with no real solid main melody. Any books you can recommend on orchestration? I really appreciate the feedback immensely man 🙂 🙂

  4. Don’t want to keep anyone hanging. I’ve gone ahead and start to collaborate with Suzy Creamcheese and Lorem Ipsum over the soundtrack. Thank you to everyone who offered me their music and services!
