Amazing free rocket building game: Kerbal Space Program

So this recently came out, it’s free and amazingly fun for something so unfinished.  Go to http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/  and download it.  Now.

You build a rocket and launch it.  You control the staging order and when they go off as well as having the ability to control direction.  The world is also procedurally generated, orbits work, and there are massive plans for other planets and many, many more items.  Half the fun is the horrible failures too, since your brave little Kerbalian astronauts start freaking the fuck out.

It also has Jeb, and Jeb gives no fucks.

Well, usually doesn’t at least.

  1. i’m not very good at rocket building… or understanding and setting up staging properly. Then there’s a little bit of the flying it. If I build a simple rocket it’ll fly easier but doesn’t seem to break atmosphere. The larger and more complicated I try to build, the less it works.

more fuel cells, longer burn, greater distance, more weight, more rockets for initial liftoff.
If I get it to lift off and fly straight, separating the stages doesn’t go so well.

  2. This design is legit. Three liquid tanks surrounded by six solid boosters and six liquid engines. Right now, I’m trying to see if I can get it into a stable orbit and not slingshot into oblivion.

  3. Ah, that feels good.
I haven’t really played any video game in years but now, I’m hooked.
Currently flying my pod 47000km from Kearth at 1523m/s. It’s already been a 9h flight.
I’m looking forward to wasting many nights on that game.
